NYC’s Premiere Short Film Showcase
The Katra Film Series seeks to highlight undiscovered talent in the NYC Metropolitan area and provide a unique platform for emerging filmmakers to showcase their work in front of a large audience and to connect with like-minded industry folks. Every month we will showcase 8-10 eclectic short films by up-and-coming filmmakers living, studying or working in NYC. On AUGUST 11th , AT THIS TABLE will be one of those “eclectic” films. After each series the audience will vote for the best film and the winner will get an official screening at an exclusive theater in East Harlem and be considered for next year’s East Harlem International Film Festival. The remaining films will still be in consideration for the festival next year as well as the official screening at the end of this year.
The Katra Film Series was founded by Geoffrey Guerrero. Born and Bred in the Coney Island section of Brooklyn, NY, Geoffrey Guerrero has written, directed, and produced over four short films. He was selected as a semi-finalist for the 2006 Film Your Issue National Film Competition. He was subsequently featured in EL DIARIO/LA PRENSA, America’s Spanish-leading newspaper, for highlighting an issue that’s been perennially overlooked by the mainstream media. In 2007 he co-directed a short film called “Rewind” and won the Best Short Film “On The Edge” Award at the 2007 HBO New York International Latino Film Festival. His original short film “The New McCarthyism,” which he wrote, directed, and produced was an Official Selection at the 2007 Long Island Latino International Film Festival. In 2008, his film “Baile (Dance)” won the Best Short Film “Fruit of the Vine” award at the Vine Shorts Film Festival in Santa Monica, CA and also screened at the 2009 HBO New York International Latino Film Festival and 2009 Babelgum Online International Film Festival as an Official Selection.
The Katra Film Series aims to serve as the premiere venue to watch shorts, network with industry folks and spend an exciting night with great company, hip music and quality films!
