“It’s Never Too Late”
It is very common with any profession to experience setbacks and challenges that leave you wondering if you can keep moving forward and persevere. In the entertainment business, these setbacks and challenges are much more common and sometimes happen on a day to day basis. It’s no wonder so many actors find other professions, move on with their lives and let go of their dream.
But what if it was never too late to follow your dream? What if no matter where you are at in life, no matter what age you currently are, you could have the opportunity to achieve everything you’ve ever wanted? Sounds too good to be true right? Keep an open mind here. In this business it is never too late. The entertainment world is constantly changing, always looking for new and unique talent with passion and drive. If you find yourself looking for that second chance, just know that you have something others may not: Excitement. Excitement and passion are all that’s needed to start a career. But you have to be realistic with yourself. You are behind in the game! Your resume might not be as developed, you may not have as many professional contacts and you may need to play “catch up” with all of the new techniques your competitors are already trained in.
My response to this…. So What! So you have some work to do, So What! If this is truly what you want to do, then go for it! But understand that it will not be an easy ride. Go to auditions with that “newbie” attitude of “I Can Do Anything!” That excitement and joy for what you are doing already puts you one step ahead of the pack. Developing your resume and networking have to be at the top of your list of things to do! If you can completely allow yourself to become part of the process, you can make it happen- It’s Never too Late! And if someone tells you that it is too late… So What!
