Worthy Wednesday: MF3 Performer NICOLE MAXALI

Greetings Meganda Films Friends, Family, and Supports! Our Three year anniversary is less than three weeks away and we can’t wait to celebrate with you! We’re excited to announce this week’s Up and Coming female performer helping us celebrate; Producer, Solo Performer, Writer and Creator, Nicole Maxali…. Maxali is pronounced “Mah-SHAH-Lee”.

NICOLE MAXALI began acting on stage at the age of sixteen.  But it would take many years of following other people’s dream to fully realize her own…and have the cojones to finally pursue them.  So in 2003 she began performing on stages all over the Bay Area. One of those stages being at Bindlestiff Studio, the only Filipino-American theater in the nation.

Wanting to perform more of her own writing, Nicole took her first stand-up comedy workshop under Kevin Camia. As a comic, Nicole has performed at the legendary Purple Onion, the San Jose Improv and opened for the comic genius Dave Chappelle at the San Francisco Punchline and Oakland’s New Parish.

In 2008, Nicole Maxali wrote and performed her very first solo show under the tutelage of W. Kamau Bell  (FX’s Totally Biased).  Under the direction of Paul Stein, Nicole developed her original twenty minute piece titled I Heart Lola into her full length show,Forgetting the Details.  FTD premiered at Bindlestiff Studio in San Francisco with sold out shows, rave reviews and standing ovations in 2011. To learn more about Miss Maxali, please check out her website: www.NicoleMaxali.com

During our special day Nicole will be performing a portion of her heartwarming,  one-woman show I HEART LOLA. In “I Heart Lola”, Nicole realizes that life with grandma is suddenly not the same… for Nicole and for her grandma.  This piece pays tribute to all of those who suffer from Alzheimer’s by reminding us that their dementia does not define who they are.

Described by Comedian Dave Chappelle as “funny, heartwarming and funny again,” I Heart Lola is an endearing performance piece that will make you laugh, cry and remind you that in the end, it’s not the details that matter.

I am looking forward to seeing Nicole’s “funny, heartwarming, and funny again” performance as we celebrate three years in production. We hope to see you all there!

Stay tuned as we continue to spotlight the amazing up and coming female artists

helping us celebrate

THREE YEARS of Production !
